Play Day is this Saturday. All information that you need is below. DO NOT BE LATE on Saturday morning. We have to get to the school, get kids in cars, and leave the parking lot by 7:10. Bring enough money to eat twice. The following parents are expected to drive and directions are included in this email:
Bellis (3 kids), Breitwieser (4 kids), B.Chapman (4 kids), Ernst (6 kids), Hutchison (4 kids), Marker (3 kids), Preston (4 kids), Zehner (4 kids), D.Chapman (5 kids), Cruz (4 kids), Ewing (1 kid+robot)
 

Meeting Place: 7:00 am South River High School, front parking lot

Pick up: 5:00 pm South River High School, Tech Ed classrooms

Method of transportation: Carpool with team students and parents

Cost: Bring $20 for concessions, drinks, snacks and lunch

 

Important notes:

  1. Wear last year’s royal blue t-shirt, eat a good breakfast, and bring money for lunch. Donuts, muffins, drinks, pizza and hot dogs are available at the event’s concession stand, and the group will stop after the competition, on the way back to the school, for fast food also. Feel free to bring your own lunch to save money.
  2. 24 teams will compete in the morning (our shift) and 24 more in the afternoon. This pre-ship date scrimmage is an informal but fun event giving teams the opportunity to practice their driving skills, test their robot and observe other teams on an OFFICIAL FIRST playing field.  Included below are many of the details on how our scrimmage will be run.
  3. Directions to Luke C. Moore Academy: Take Rt 50 West into DC. Rt 50 becomes New York Ave. Take the South Dakota Ave exit toward Ft. Lincoln Dr. Keep right at the fork to go on to South Dakota Ave NE. Turn left onto Monroe St. NE. Luke C. Moore Academy is on the left.

Timeline:  

7:00 am Meet at South River High School front parking lot

7:10 exactly Depart SRHS for Luke C. Moore Academy, 1001 Monroe St NE. 

8:30 - 12:30 Play Day

12:30 Depart Luke C. Moore

1:00-1:45 Lunch at fast food

2:00 Return to South River High School

2:15 - 5:00 Discuss, review, and re-build robot (based on what was learned at Play Day)

5:00 p.m. Students dismissed/Parent pick-up

The South River High School Power Hawks Robotics Team, team #1111, is a non-profit organization of students and adult mentors dedicated to the practical education of future engineers based in Edgewater, Maryland. These motivated students annually design and build a robot to compete locally and nationally in the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) robotics competition.
