Drive team is responsible for designing and building the aspects of the robot relating to movement, including the:

  • wheels

  • motor

  • drive system

  • chassis

The captain of Drive Team is responsible for:

  • Keeping team working efficiently and on task at all times
  • Facilitating design and build of steering, chassis, and drive system
  • Working with other sub-teams to seamlessly integrate components
  • Teaching other members of team about the intricacies of drive systems
  • Being the main facilitator and line of communication with sub team mentor
  • Working with the CAD captain to prototype drive components

At the beginning of the build season, drive team decided to build a drive system that combined a tank drive system and an omni drive system. Two conventional wheels were to be located at the front of the chassis, and in the back there were going to be two wheels at a 45 degree angle to increase the robot's mobility. After some testing, the team decided to use a standard tank drive system.

Drive Team Updates:

James Batterden will update this page so that his committee will know what to do. He will not forget his responsibilities to the team and make sure that his subteam is on task and finishing up what they need to be doing.

Welcome the the Hawk's Nest News Sponsorship

Who We Are...

The South River High School Power Hawks Robotics Team, team #1111, is a non-profit organization of students and adult mentors dedicated to the practical education of future engineers based in Edgewater, Maryland. These motivated students annually design and build a robot to compete locally and nationally in the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) robotics competition. The Power Hawks improve their science, technology, engineering, and math skills, learn to cooperatively problem solve, and develop self-confidence, communication skills, and leadership.
