Mech team is responsible for creating different parts on the robot directly related to interacting with the game field and competing against, as well as along side, other teams robots. The Mech Captain is responsible for: 1. Keeping the team working efficiently and on task at all times 2. Facilitating design of robot structure and all necessary mechanisms 3. Ensuring that designs of other sub-teams will work seamlessly together 4. Working with the CAD captain to prototype mechanism components The school year is almost over and the seniors are all gone but there is still something to be done. Get in your applications to join the team and relax SAFELY. Its been great working with you guys, I'll try and visit when I can but you'll still have to fill my shoes. To Future Mech Captain and Co-Captain: When build season starts to near take a look at past teams that did good in competition. See how many mechanisms they had on their robots, how intricate the mechanisms were, look for common factors in the winning robots. “The world's a playground. Who We Are...

The South River High School Power Hawks Robotics Team, team #1111, is a non-profit organization of students and adult mentors dedicated to the practical education of future engineers based in Edgewater, Maryland. These motivated students annually design and build a robot to compete locally and nationally in the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) robotics competition. The Power Hawks improve their science, technology, engineering, and math skills, learn to cooperatively problem solve, and develop self-confidence, communication skills, and leadership.
